J. M. Baxi & Co. celebrates 600 voyages of LNG Raahi at Petronet LNG Terminal, Dahej

We at J. M. Baxi were privileged to be part of the legendary journey of 600 voyages of LNG carrier “RAAHI”. This journey started in 2005 with the first voyage from Ras Laffan, Qatar to PLL – Dahej. And till date transported 37.3 million metric tonnes of LNG cargo and is still an ongoing call at Dahej. Interestingly she has steamed around 1.56 million nautical miles during this journey. It is like circumnavigating the earth 66 times and carrying cargo worth 14 billion dollars.

RAAHI” is among the 03 LNG ships, viz. ‘DISHA’, ‘RAAHI’ and ‘ASEEM’ carry LNG cargo from Ras Gas, Qatar under a long-term contract to Dahej. Besides Japanese companies, the Shipping Corporation of India (SCI) is also an equity partner in the ship-owning companies. All these ships are manned, managed, maintained and operated by SCI under India LNG Transport Company No.1, 2 & 3 Ltd. The ships operate on a long-term time charter of 25 years basis with Petronet as the charterer.

On this historic moment celebration, representatives from “The Shipping Corporation of India” Capt. Om Veer Singh (DGM) and Mr. Rajdeep Kumar (SM), Capt. Hemant Kumar Varma along with their Petronet LNG Terminal’s team, had attended the ceremony. On behalf of J. M. Baxi & Co. our Dahej team presented to the Master Capt. Shreekant Tyagi and his team members a memento and prayed that this memorable journey and our association with them would continue long.
